GOOG on YouTube: Can’t Believe We Ate The Whole Thing

I meant to post this earlier in the week, but SAI Business Insider has a very telling chart that compares three businesses – Apple’s iPhone App and Amazon’s Kindle stores and Google’s YouTube.

Cranky people like me looked at the deal when it was announced and wondered in whose lifetime YouTube was going to pay off for Google.  But when you have billions of dollars to throw at things to see what sticks, I guess it’s a different ballgame.  I guess.

Anyway, here’s the chart:

Maybe nobody at Google ever wonders why they bought YouTube, but I do.  Is anyone else old enough to remember the old Alka-Seltzer ad: “I can’t believe I ate the whole thing”?  You can read the rest here

And then there’s story about Sergey Brin’s wife’s biotech company getting a $2.6M investment.  What would it be like to have a checkbook so big that nobody dares to tell you “no”?
