San Diego, CA: Job Losses Accelerate

Rich Toscano is a San Diego uberNerd who writes for www.voiceofsandiego.org.  His most recent post demonstrates that if there are green shoots, they aren’t yet apparent in the San Diego regional economy.  The region’s lost more than 50,000 jobs year over year – a 4% decline.

Interestingly, his data shows that the damage has already been done in the housing bubble related sectors and the job destruction is occuring elsewhere.  He also points out that maximal job losses occur as recessions are peaking or even turning.  You can read the rest here.
