Not So Stimulating After All…

I love Calculated Risk – a cranky blogger who says “forget the bread and circus shtick, let’s work the numbers.”

We were hectored by The Powers That Be into accepting that The Stimulus Plan was necessary to prevent massive unemployment.  Indeed the TPTB forecasted unemployment with and without the Recovery Plan,to demonstrate incontrovertibly the necessity to intervene and the essential virtue of The Stimulus Plan

CR, that obsessive numbers cruncher, has prepared an attractive graph that compares the unemployment rate “With Crunchy Bits Stimulus,” “Without Crunchy Bits Stimulus,” and “Actual” unemployment numbers.  You will be shocked! shocked! to learn that the Actual unemployment numbers are dreadful and far worse than the forecasted Without Stimulus numbers.  See for yourself (Actual in red):

Not So Stimulating... Unemployment Spikes

Not So Stimulating... Unemployment Spikes

Not so stimulating after all.  Not to worry, we’ll get it right with Stimulus 2.0.
